Basmah Sakrani is a fiction writer whose work explores memory, displacement, and the private aftermath of historic events.

A 2025 VCCA Fellow, Basmah’s writing has appeared in CRAFT, Electric Literature, The Adroit Journal, and Best Small Fictions.

She was awarded the 2024 Veasna So Scholarship in Fiction and shortlisted for the Kinder/Crump Award in Short Fiction. She works in advertising in New York City.
